Mermaids is a UK-based charity that supports transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and young people, as well as their families and supporting professionals.
Mermaids has been supporting children, young people, and their families since 1995. They provide resources for families, schools, local authorities and organisations, and seek to educate and inform wider society on gender.
How You Can Help
Time: Typically a few hours + per week
Apply to become a Mermaid volunteers. Volunteers contribute their time in a variety of roles, such as facilitating a local support group. All applicants need to be at least 18 years old, cannot have been a member of the Mermaids youth forum for at least 12 months, and will be DBS checked and interviewed, and will need references.
Cost: Various
Make a single or monthly donation, or fundraise by running, streaming, or any other way you want to raise money. You can also support Mermaids with Amazon Smile.
