Founded in 1998, the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust is a UK-based educational charity committed to the advancement of social justice, the alleviation of poverty and community cohesion.
How It Works
The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust works with 13-30 year-olds from disadvantaged backgrounds to provide careers guidance, one-on-one advice and more to help them overcome disadvantage and discrimination. It works with schools, businesses, communities and government to create a fairer society. Its Lewisham Young Leaders programme, for example, works to bridge the gap between young people in disadvantaged communities and the police. Its BME (black minority ethnic) Network supports voluntary groups working with BME communities.
22nd April is Stephen Lawrence Day, a national day to show commitment to creating a fairer society. To learn more about Stephen Lawrence and his story, click here.
