“A Global Deal for Nature: Guiding Principles, Milestones, and Targets” is a 2019 scientific paper presenting a science-driven plan to save the diversity and abundance of life on Earth. Its corresponding petition calls on world leaders to support a Global Deal for Nature.

How It Works

The goal of a Global Deal for Nature is to protect half the terrestrial realm, thus halting the extinction crisis while sustaining human livelihoods. One key concept in the 2019 paper is that each of the world’s 846 terrestrial ‘ecoregions‘ requires its own plan, one that’s shared by the countries whose boundaries overlap the ecoregion.

he Global Deal for Nature is a project of the Sustainable Markets Foundation, a charity pushing for stricter environmental laws.
