4ocean is a non-profit business that recovers plastic waste from our oceans and recycles it into new products.
4ocean was founded in 2015, and operates cleanup divisions in Florida, Bali, Haiti, and Guatemala. It recovers millions of pounds of trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines every year.
How You Can Help
Time: A few hours + | affected by Covid-19
Please Note: Due to the restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus, all 4ocean events are currently on hold until further notice.
If you are over 18 and based near to one of 4ocean’s clean-up divisions, you may be able to volunteer with the 4ocean Outreach Team and help support their free Community Clean-up events. Volunteers should be happy to spend half a day / a day on the beach, helping to run the event and provide logistical support.
You can also volunteer as a ‘Citizen Scientist’, helping to sort through and record the collected marine debris from beach cleans, and offer an insight into what kind of materials are polluting our oceans. You must be at least 13 years old to be a Citizen Scientist and anyone under the age of 18 will need to volunteer with a parent or legal guardian.
Visit the 4ocean shop to purchase a range of products in support of their operations. 4ocean are famous for their $20 USD beaded bracelets made from recycled plastic, and one sale helps remove one pound of trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines. Other products include sustainable apparel, drinkware, beach gear and face masks.
4ocean do not accept donations. However, you may choose to subscribe to the $20 USD per month ‘Clean Ocean Club’, where you will receive 4ocean’s latest bracelet each month you are subscribed, sneak peeks and previews of news and events, and other exclusive discounts.
