Age UK is the United Kingdom’s leading charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life.
Please note: This entry refers solely to the national charity Age UK, and not the various local Age UK or Age Concern groups found around the UK.
Age UK offers support to older people living in the UK, providing information and advice on matters such as health, care services and general wellbeing. They also run campaigns and conduct research to help make later life better for older people today and tomorrow. The Age UK network comprises around 125 local Age UK organisations.
How You Can Help
Time: Various
Age UK welcomes volunteers in a number of different roles with varying time commitments.
Roles include (but are not limited to) helping in Age UK charity shops, or becoming an Age UK Digital Buddy, helping older people in your community to make the most of technology.
It is also possible to contribute to the Age UK ‘Donate your words’ campaign. The charity has partnered with Cadbury to celebrate the stories of older people. If you are an older person who has an interesting story to contribute, or know someone who has, you can help them to share their stories.
You can also help Age UK to campaign on issues affecting elderly people in the UK, for example via petitions.
Cost: Various
Make a donation of your choice to Age UK, as a one-off or regular gift, or fundraise for the charity.
You can also visit an Age UK charity shop near you, or browse their eBay shop online.
Alternatively, support the Age UK weekly lottery for £1 a week, or their seasonal raffles for £1 an entry. Anyone over 18 can enter the Age UK Raffle and purchase up to 60 tickets.
